[Techtalk] request tracker resources

Hi folks,

I want to create a server to house request-tracker for the helpdesk on a
small University campus. We already have a couple of test-installs of
request-tracker, so we know we can set it up okay for testing purposes.

My problem is that I haven't been able to find documentation about how much
resources RT request tracker will need in a production environment. That is
5 full-time helpdesk staff, several part-timers, and somewhere around 3500
users. I am assuming they receive an average of 20 requests per day; which
varies greatly with the school year.

As I provision the server: I have no idea how much hard disk we'll need,
how much RAM, (I assume the faster the processor speed the better - but do
we need one or two or more processors)?

Does anyone have in-production experience with requestTracker who can give
me even a rough estimate? Or tell me how much resources you needed for your
load?

thanks
Meryll Larkin

(RT spelled multiple ways on purpose for search reasons).
