[Techtalk] hwclock problems

It's /sbin/hwclock that hangs; the script hangs only because the command 
hangs. If I run the command outside the script it still hangs:

dan at localhost:~$ ps -efl --headers | grep hwclock
4 S root      8412  8411  0  76   0 -   447 rtc_re 10:50 pts/2 
00:00:00 hwclock --hctosys --utc
0 R dan       8414  5609  0  78   0 -   458 -      10:50 pts/3 
00:00:00 grep hwclock

But the command must succeed before hanging, because the Linux clock is 
set correctly at startup, right?
