[Techtalk] Intro & SMTP question...

Hi grrls,

My name is Cari, and I'm new to the list (though I think I know Jen from
a snowboarding trip. ;) I've been a programmer forever (mostly Java
now) and I dabble in IT-type stuff, but I am no linux expert... I mostly
do things like EDI and integration with applications using Java, so, if
there are ever any Java-related threads, I'll try to help out the
community where I can.

OK, enough about me... here's my problem:

I have been trying to set up my linux box at home to handle email, ssh,
and sftp (and a teamspeak server, if you must know. ;) I have the
latter 3 working perfectly, and I can even log in to my IMAP server
using SSL to access my email... but the problem is that email is not
being delivered to me! I'm running postfix and I can telnet to port 25
from my work computer, which indicates that this is not a firewall
issue. I've tried sending manual commands to the SMTP server, but it
does not respond like I expect... and mail is not being delivered to
user mailboxes.

When I attempted to send a test message to my address from my work
email, it bounces back with a "Host not found." message.

I've googled this to death and I need to get some help! I hope one of
you has the answers, or at least can start a thred discussing how to set
this up properly.

Thanks!
