A Freshmeat search reveals four Learning Management Systems (LMS). Three
are in beta. Only one (Moodle) is stable:

Note that Moodle is written in PHP, and I'm not sure that PHP is the
best language for an LMS. No, that's not flamebate: I'm a PHP hacker too.
