[Techtalk] mbox to maildir conversion

I have read that IMAP is much faster if you use maildir instead of mbox 
format for messages. I'm using uw-imap, and that's what their docs say.

Does anybody have experience with this? Can you confirm it? I'd also 
appreciate any advice or recommendations on how to do the conversion with 
a minimum of pain.
