Hi, everyone,

Please forgive me for posting this on two lists. My frustration level
is pretty high now, and I'm hoping somebody will actually have good
answers for me :)

I actually managed to upgrade my tiny but ancient Toshiba Libretto 50CT
to Red Hat Linux 7.3, and yes, most everything seems to work. Sound is
the one exception.

Under RH 6.2, sndconfig detected the sound card as a generic
Soundblaster and it worked but sounded awful. Switching to 16 bit mode
with the OPL SA3 module made it sound decent. The line I needed back
then was:

modprobe opl3sa2 io=0x220 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0

However, everything is different under the 2.4.x kernels, isn't it.
sndconfig no longer detects a soundcard at all. If I install opl3sa2 in
/etc/modules.conf with the above settings I get no errors, but I also
get silence.

Is anyone clueful on current sound card configuration?

Thanks bunches,
Caity
