There are indeed very significant differences in SQL syntax 
between various products.  While it's true these don't 
matter so much in the beginning, I think PostgreSQL is a
better choice from the get-go.

About the only practical advantage of MySQL that I've found 
is that it's more popular, and therefore more likely to be 
offered by web hosting service providers.
