Well, Sorry for being quiet on the list too. I just haven't been as needy
as usual. I am busy working on many of the things that people from the
list have helped me with. In the past couple of months, I have:
Installed and configured PHP and SQL, and have made two web accessible
databases, one of which serves streaming mp3s.
Installed an intranet.
The help has given me the confidence to do other things, such as:
I have also added a couple of 256MB sticks of RAM to my PC. At $CDN45.00
for 256MB, I couldn't refuse. The 512MB added to the previous 128 gives
me 640MB. 640KB is good enough for Bill Gates, but 640MB is good for
me. I reinstalled Slackware and now don't use swap space.
Slackware by default doesn't provide APM support. Tonight, I recompiled
my kernel. It worked perfectly on the first try. I have had friends
recompile kernels for me before, but this is the first time I did it on my
own. I surprised myself actually. Now I want to streamline the kernel,
why??? jsut because I can.
I don't know if I am ready to offer much support. I am getting better at
working the computer. I am not an IT professional, I am a legal
secretary. I wonder if I have made a wrong career choice..then again
hacking a PC is not the true measure of a professional.
Thanks for listening.....
Jenn
