Engineering Manager

Job Summary:
Ocarina is seeking a seasoned "people manager" for its Engineering development team. If you excel at managing people, timelines, technical tradeoffs, and resources in a fast-paced engineering environment, let's talk.

Job Responsibilities:


 *   Using overall project plans, assign weekly group goals and individual task assignments.
 *   Analyze technical tradeoff issues, engage in collaborative discussions with other members of the management team, and make & implement tradeoff decisions.
 *   Analyze, coordinate, and allocate resources to the Engineering team.
 *   Manage, mentor, and guide individuals on the Engineering team, providing constructive feedback and/or corrections where needed.
 *   Mentor team members on good time management practices.
 *   Participate, hands-on, in some aspects of product development within Engineering.

Qualifications:


 *   Ten or more years experience in a combination of hands-on and managerial Engineering product development roles, with most recent emphasis on hands-on Engineering management.
 *   Current and demonstrated in-depth knowledge of multiple operating systems (Unix, Windows, and Linux, with primary emphasis on Linux); filesystems (including CIFS and NFS), and engineering appliances (e.g., hardware/software solutions, with primary emphasis on software.
 *   Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with current storage technologies is highly desirable. These technologies include NAS, SAN, RAID, NetApp OnTAP, EMC Centera, HDS, Veritas Netbackup and similar technologies.
