[Techtalk] Simple replacement for AIM with Pidgin

You don't need to apologise for straying from my original question - it
was I who did that when I mentioned the difficulties that I (and
others) have with some Google products.  Clearly you find them more
user-friendly than I do.
I have now created a Google account for my friend Margaret, and all is
working smoothly.  Just as I hoped, she is hardly aware that there has
been any change.  We are still using Pidgin, which is the interface she
is used to.
