[Techtalk] Network Manager

With the recent talk about Network Manager and similar threads on other 
lists I got to wondering.

I have a laptop and a netbook both running Kubuntu 12.04. I use both on 
a variety of different networks and they both work flawlessly. Off the 
top of my head I don't know what wireless chip sets either uses.

My question is could the problems be because of the chip sets rather 
than NM?
