I don't have experience with your situation but I do have experience 
with Windows software.

With the accountant and assistants computers both on and the assistant 
accessing the accountants data files. Reset the assistant first to 
access the Linux box in single mode and then the accountant in single 
mode. So that there is no choice for the assistants computer.
