Well, I tried everything I could think of but no luck in getting the mouse
to wake up. I finally went and reinstalled Ubuntu and everything in the
install went fine. I lost some personal data but nothing of consequence, it
will just take some time to configure everything. The only thing I will
probably have trouble getting to work is the fingerprint driver for the
ThinkPad but I can take my time in getting it to work.

I want to thank everyone who contributed and helped out. Despite not finding
the solution I learned a lot and I will retain the information. What I
really appreciated was the support. FOSS community support is what separates
us from those who provide answers only when paid.

Regards,
