[Techtalk] perl module to access a (GSM/UMTS/HSDPA) modem

Hello techgirls and maybe others,

I have build my new USB-GSM-Modem using a Nexperia  PNX6712  and  I  can
already connect to the Internet using "ppp" and  I  can  phone  (receive
incoming calls and can do outgoing calls) using a terminal.

But my application must run under X and I am building a perl GUI 64x64px
and now I am searching for a perl module with which I can  controll  the
modem but it must support DATA and CONTROLL switching On-The-Fly.

In the Debian distribution I have not  found  a  suitable  one,  so  can
someone recommend one?

And of course, I am willing to pack it up for Debian...
