You have to execute vsound which calls the program you want to use to 
play the sound, then it acts as a filter between the audio output of the 
software and speaker, sort of like making a wiretap and recording the 
wiretap.

I've used it a lot where there has been no other way to capture audio.

when you compile it, you'll have to make the "vsound" file executable as 
it doesn't do this in the makefile. (true under Slackware at any rate).
