[Techtalk] Root access on Ubuntu

Thank you Jennifer et al.

I could get in an modify the file (which didn't fix my problem but that is another matter). 

Next boot on that machine I will follow up on David's hints to create a root account, since if I want to wreck something then I must be free to do so properly!
