[Techtalk] How to print in tile format with CUPS?

Hello.
I need to print some .pdfs in a tile format using Cups.
Debian unstable, CUPS, hpijs,hpijs-ppds,hplip,hplip-data,gimpprint,
gutenprint,gs-esp,kdeprint..etc
HP-1220C printer.
Anyway, need to set this up to do the work over the weekend at home,
therefore one thought to ask for suggestions before getting into a mess
with deadlines.
Any help greatly appreciated.
