[Techtalk] Open source journal publications?

Hi chix,

I'm writing something up at work about some open source tools for biology
and I could do with some references to cite.  Are there any classic
studies / papers on the open source model and its benefits and drawbacks
in terms of software development? Any other good references I should have
a look at? It's a small section of something else, so I don't need
anything that goes into too much detail.
