Or worse, they half-understand it (or quarter-understand it) and mistake
that for full understanding.

I swear, it ain't the folks who don't know anything about X that raise
havoc, because they know they don't know anything about X.  It's the folks
who know a little about X and mistake that for expertise who will drive the
folks who do know about X mad and cause an uproar among the clueless, who
can't tell that they're dealing with an idiot rather than an Actual Expert.
