I second the recommendation to go to the Linux on Laptops web site,
but there are so many different models that you have to have some
specific ones in mind.  In my (limited) experience, most linux
distributions have evolved to the point where it's very likely to be
compatible with all the hardware on a random new laptop.  So I would
recommend narrowing your candidates down to a few based on your
non-Linux-related criteria and then look them up at Linux on Laptops
and using Google to get an idea of how easy it will be to set up
Linux on them.

The only hardware-related feature I know of that's still a major
hurdle in Linux is suspend/sleep mode.
