[Techtalk] Evil alternate screens in gnome-terminal

Now, you're just going to think me ornery, but how would I go about 
force-*enabling* it on a terminal which isn't doing it at the 
moment? :^)

(Don't you love user choice? Pain in the ass for you, essential return 
to the flow of work for me...)
