Oh... yes... found the SuSE .rpm...
Works beautifully :-P

I'm still a little bit curious to know what all those
strdup() error messages were about, and why they were
reported in nextelem.c rather than string.h, but I
guess it doesn't really matter now.

For the record: ./configure didn't report any
problems.

You do have checked that your distro doesn't provide
findutils (or slocate)?  Because if they do (and all
major distros I know of do),
it's far simpler to just run up2date, yast2, apt-get,
emerge or some
other spell of choice.  Barring that, have you run
"./configure", and
did it report any problems?
