I can't remember if you're on dialup or broadband but, if broadband, the
XP box's ethernet card is already in use for the cable modem or whatever
that is.  The big benefit of networking the two boxes is that you can
share the internet connection (through the mandrake box of course).  You
can also run a decent firewall rather than  XP's "firewall everything
except Microsoft's back door ports" toy one.  After that you can start
playing with things like your own mail server and tools like spamassassin
(I wish I could spell) to filter out all those viagra ads.
