[Techtalk] how to get PID without using pidof command?

   Thanks for the replies Michelle and Kai.
   But I am developing this for an embedded platform. And when I run the
   script that calls awk/cut, it says "Syntax Error". The same script
   works fine on Linux and hence I think this may be becz the
   commands may not  be supported on the platform. /bin/ folder does
   not list these commands. Any other suggestions on how to get the pid
   of a process?
