I admit I'm not sure I understand the differences myself. I usually look
at things as ext2, ext3, swap, root, vfat, fat, etc. About all I know
about primary and extended is that Windows needs to be on the primary
partition and Linux can boot from an extended if needed.
As for the types, I'm hoping someone else can answer that one. I'll be
watching this thread so I can learn myself. :)
