Hi All,

I have RH8.0 as a print server. I would like to add a Solaris x86 print
client to be able to print to the server.. On the client I have typed
lpstat -t and the outputis as follows:

[root at server1 /] > lpstat -t
scheduler is not running
system default destination: home
system for home: elvis
system for _default: elvis (as printer home)
home accepting requests since Mar 16 14:07 2003
_default accepting requests since Mar 16 14:07 2003
printer home unknown state. enabled since Mar 16 14:07 2003. available.
no connect permissions
printer _default unknown state. enabled since Mar 16 14:07 2003. available.
[root at server1 /] >

As you can see I have no connect permisions and an "unkown state" comment.

The following is the /etc/printcap on the printserver:

root at elvis's password:
Last login: Sun Mar 16 13:57:56 2003 from shark.pszone1
[root at elvis root]# more /etc/printcap
# /etc/printcap
#
# DO NOT EDIT! MANUAL CHANGES WILL BE LOST!
# This file is autogenerated by printconf-backend during lpd init.
#
# Hand edited changes can be put in /etc/printcap.local, and will be included.

home:\
        :ml#0:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/home:\
        :af=/var/spool/lpd/home/home.acct:\
        :sh:\
        :lp=/dev/lp0:\
        :lpd_bounce=true:\
        :if=/usr/share/printconf/util/mf_wrapper:

At my place Elvis is *not* dead as you can tell. However, what can I change
in here to allow for the IA Solaris 9 (uses lpd) to be able to print to the
server?

Thanks in advance,

Phil Savoie
