All IDE/ATAPI CD writers in all Linuxes require SCSI emulation to work. If you
want XCdroast to see your CDROM, it needs SCSI emulation too. See

CD burning in Linux. the links at the end of the article, under 'Resources',
go into great detail on all aspects of cd writing in Linux.
