[Techtalk] installing PHP on debian

Hey all:

I'm trying to follow these instructions:
http://www.awtrey.com/support/dbeweb/debian.php

I have no problems with the mysql part of the install but when I try to
install php it says:
debian:/home/emmajane# apt-get install stable php 
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package stable

I've tried "apt-get update" and that doesn't help. Do I need to update my
sources list? I'm running unstable (installed woody and then switched).
