I meant to say not possible without a PCMCIA slot.  Oh well...

I have a port replicator on the way with a USB slot.  I understand it is
possible to boot off a USB CD-ROM.  I just really don't want to spend
the money right now.  I'll keep playing with it and I'll figure out
something.
