[Techtalk] OpenOffice crashes X

Okay here's my dilemma, I have a book for a class I am taking.  It was
originally sent to me in word format.  I have been able to open it
successfully many times on my laptop, but on my home machine, it crashes
my X session (causing X to restart me back to kdm) 

Both Machines are running Mandrake 9.0, the only error I get is when it
kicks back to console, I can see the following:

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting.

One time I managed to see some kind of message about the mouse.  Can
anyone help me?
