hi all

i'm having trouble getting vnc to work over wifi....
i have two machines communicating point to point, one running windows
(192.168.0.4) the other running linux & samba (192.168.0.3)
i've got the vnc server app installed on both.... according to the
wonderful Marcel Gagne's book 'Linux Systems Administration', im
supposed to do

vncserver host:session_number

i've set up DNS in the windows client to be hostname onyx on domain
iriXx.org, so in theory it should be onyx.iriXx.org... and i should be
able to use the alias 'onyx' from my linux machine which is
hamish.iriXx.org ... but im getting this:

[root at hamish miriam]# vncserver onyx:0

usage: vncserver [:<number>] [-name <desktop-name>] [-depth <depth>]
                 [-geometry <width>x<height>]
                 [-pixelformat rgbNNN|bgrNNN]
                 <Xvnc-options>...

       vncserver -kill <X-display>

and the same result when i use the ip address instead of alias. i also
can't connect through a browser.... does anyone have any idea what im
doing wrong? its my first go at this, so its likely i've missed
something vital....

thanx

m
