[Techtalk] Installing linux without an ISO

Hi:

I am getting anxious about rebuilding my server as I can't seem to compile
anything on it anymore.  I have probably corrupted the system and I don't
have the knowledge to fix it.  I wonder if I just reinstalled the a & d
packages if it would work (It's Slackware 8.0).  I do think I would like a
change of flavour.

Back to my original point, if I were to go to Redhat or Mandrake for my
server, or even debian, is there a way to do a minimal install off a floppy
or floppies, or do a network install?  (oi do I miss my CD Writer)

I will have to do my own research on the respective distros websites, but if
anyone has advice on what is possible, I would appreciate it.
