[Techtalk] Password Incorrect

Hi All,
For some time my efforts to connect a Mac 7100 w/os 8.6 to a
Mandrake 8.0,Netatalk 1.5.3.1 PC, have been thwarted. I intend to
marry these two somehow. Being new to Linux I must have not set
something or other. I have looked for a few months now.
The PC running Mandrake 8.0/netatalk is shown In the Mac
Chooser But nothing yet has it accepting the "password" , the user is
accepted but not password. Changing passwords and users has no
result. There is a "Linksys" router/switch between them, which is
connected to the wan/internet.
Using the Macintosh utility program "AppleShare Server Info"
(by Mr. Anders) shows me the server should accept Cleartxt Passwrd.
The UAMs listing for the server (PC) contains 'only' Cleartxt
Passwrd, while the Mac has cleartxt, randnum, and 2-way randnum. Zone
is simply * .
TCP/IP is not "checked off" for either Mac or PC.
Also in the utility "network address" info box, AppleTalk Net
numbers are different, as are node and socket. Should the numbers
match?
I would be happy to do away with Passwords, and simply be
able to see/mount the PC as a additional disk drive for all who use
the Mac. How can that be done with some measure of security.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated. So close but so far.

Have a nice Day!,
Andrew
