Hi Miriam and Derek,

Have you tried: http://www.linux-thinkpad.org/links.html for Linux
related support?

I took a look at their links and found 3 that might help regarding
sound:

http://www.levien.com/tp600.html
http://www.brillat.net/thinkpad600e
http://panopticon.csustan.edu/thood/tp600lnx.htm (read bullet #6 in
Oct 2001 and a few references under July 2001)

The first link of the three seemed to have some helpful info.

A few links I checked out indicated, (such as
http://www.pc.ibm/qtechinfo/MIGR-4BP6Q6.html) that you should use the
cs4232 driver. Other links suggested BIOS updates... proceed with
caution, I would try that only as a last resort!

There doesn't seem to be a lot of support for Thinkpad and BSD - it
appears IBM may not want to support this OS.

There seems to be a lot of documentation and newsgroup postings. Try
a google search for either:

+sound +linux +"thinkpad 600e"

or

+sound +bsd +"thinkpad 600e"

Don't forget to check Google's Group and Directory tabs for more
links besides the main Web results you get. I know it can be
tiresome to search, but I know it's out there somewhere.

I know it's not a lot of help, but hopefully a starting point!

Tabatha
