I guess it wouldn't hurt to modernise the kernel.  Slackware doesn't make
upgrading from the 2.2.X kernels to the 2.4.X kernels all that difficult.

ipmasqadm supposedly can do it on older kernels/
ipchains systems, according to:

I was unable to use it, so I can't say from experience...
