[Techtalk] kernel upgrade 2.2.13=> 2.4.19 on Mdke...dumb idea?

Well, the second compile booted, seems to run okay.  My soundcard
and modem didn't magically appear, but that's for another day.
After all, this was my first time.  A modest celebration seems in order.
