# gzip -d something.tar.gz   OR
# uncompress something.tar.Z
# tar xvf something.tar

# gunzip <something.tar.gz | tar xvf -
# gunzip <something.tgz | tar xvf -
# gzip -cd something.tgz | tar xvf -
# compress -d <something.tar.Z | tar xvf -
# zcat something.tar.Z | tar xvf -

# unzip -q something.zip
