Hmmm...  Assuming you are trying to tune the Solaris side:

Which version of Solaris?
Is it patched up to date?
Are you using DNS or NIS or NIS+?

Do you have a contract on sunsolve.sun.com? Even if you don't, go there
are try a quick search, and you might turn up something in the free FAQ's.
Failing that, I'll have a look on your behalf.
