Or try fips.exe which comes with lots of distros.  It's a bit safer than
some others since it *only* rewrites the partition table while some other
programs try to modify cluster sizes across the new partitions.  You get
to save the partition table to a bootable floppy first in case of failure.
You'll find it on any Redhat / slackware CD or in the "dosutils"
directory on any of their mirrors.

As for your Lucent winmodem, there are drivers available for some Lucent
modems.  Have a look at linmodems.org for details.
