You're probably learning newer and possibly more difficult things
but don't let that put you off! Whenever I work on new things which I
lack a solid understanding, it seems like I'm working through a fog
using only a map, which is my textbook. Since I cannot see far off, I
have to keep an eye on my immediate surroundings and the map/text
helps provide meaning. But, slowly, as I continue working and groping
my way around, I begin to understand more and more and the fog begins
to dissolve. After awhile I can see way off in the distance and the
simple things I stumbled over not too long ago have been mastered.
By the way, from what I understand, Bjarne Stroustrup's book, "The
C++ Programming Language" is more like the C++ specifications and less
like a tutorial so don't let it intimidate you! The Waite Group has
some good C++ books although its been years since I used their C++
Primer Plus.
