*Position title: Specialist, Web Accessibility Analyst*

The Web Accessibility Analyst will support digital accessibility efforts
across UMD’s campus. This is a technical, on-the-ground position working
directly with campus partners to identify, remediate, and educate on
digital accessibility challenges and opportunities. The individual in this
position will conduct testing, audits, reports, and make appropriate
recommendations for remediation ensuring that UMD web-based information
properties are in compliance with WCAG 2.0 Level A & Level AA.
We are looking for a passionate individual who possesses solid technical
proficiencies and strong strategic, creative and planning skills that
enable one to communicate, facilitate and drive web accessibility solutions
to the UMD campus. The Web Accessibility Analyst will work under the
general supervision of the Director of Learning Technology Strategy and the
Senior IT accessibility & UX specialist, and will be a member of the Office
of Academic Technology & Innovation at the Division of Information
Technology.


*Minimum qualifications*

● B.S degree in Computer Science, Information or Graphic Design,
Telecommunications, Human-Computer Interaction or related field, Education,
Special Education, B.S. degree in another related field, or equivalent work
experience.
● Minimum of 3 years of experience working with front-end web development.
● Experience with accessibility testing and remediation.
● Knowledge and experience with web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript).
● Experience with content management systems.
● Knowledge of Section 508, ADA & WCAG 2.0/WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
and guidelines.
● Working knowledge of tools used for testing accessibility.
● Working knowledge of the range of assistive technologies.
● Very good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact
with all levels of employees and campus stakeholders. Ability to clearly
and effectively communicate with clients in both written and verbal fashion.
● Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively lead
multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

*Preferences*
● Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information or Graphic Design,
Telecommunications, Human-Computer Interaction or related field, Education,
Special Education, B.S. degree in another related field, or equivalent work
experience.
● 2+ years of experience with accessibility testing and remediation.
● Prior experience with course development in the e-learning industry.
● Experience developing user interfaces and accessible PDF documents.
● Knowledge and experience testing web-based information with assistive
technologies (e.g., JAWS, VoiceOver, Dragon, others).
● Experience with accessibility testing, quality assurance tools and
processes.
● Strong organizational and project management skills. Effective written
and oral communication skills.
● Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently lead projects to
completion.
● Demonstrated ability to supervise employees.
● Knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section
504).
