Gorilla is looking to add a full-time Systems Administrator to join our
team in Chicago. The Linux/Cloud Systems Administrator will help with the
deployment, management and maintenance of Linux servers operated in a cloud
environment as well as individual servers and workstations.  They will also
work with our managed services team, developers and IT staff in the
discovery, development, deployment and support of our client’s websites
into a cloud-based environment.

This resource needs to be available for potential after hour needs.

*What you'll be doing:*
• Oversee hardware/software configuration and management
• Responsible for system failure analysis and recovery; insuring the
consistency and integrity of filesystems
• Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance
and troubleshoot alerts using a variety of tools
• Develop and analyze complex system standards, thresholds and make
recommendations to maximize system performance
• Conduct capacity planning reviews
• Monitor MySQL database maintenance and performance, provide appropriate
recommendations when necessary
• Coordinate with technology leadership and executives on proposals
involving highly complex system administration projects
• Provide technical solutions and escalated support for a variety of
technical issues
• Work collaboratively with other technical personnel as appropriate

*You should bring to the table:*
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or
related field (or equivalent experience) required
• 4+ years Linux systems administration experience specifically in CentOS
or RedHat
• Expert knowledge of troubleshooting tools (i.e tcpdump, netstat, iostat,
traceroute)
• Systems administration-level knowledge of HTTP/Apache, DNS/BIND, SSH,
SNMP, NFS, Perl and/or Shell, Nagios, XenServer, MySQL, Java, Subversion,
Caching Technologies, PHP, enterprise NAS products
• Experience with Servers and Services in a high availability/redundant
environment
• Experience with cloud based and virtual servers and applications, ideally
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Experience with one or more of the following automation tools: Chef,
Puppet, Ansible, Capistrano
• Advanced experience with performance tuning, package installation, patch
management updates, network and server management issues
• Experience in a high-traffic online consumer-facing and/or ecommerce
environment is highly preferred
• A self-directed individual who knows what needs to be done and operates
with urgency, focus and discipline
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to thrive in a high energy, fast growth, entrepreneurial
environment
• Excellent communication skills
