Senior DevOps Engineer
Are you a senior DevOps engineer with superior cloud computing, deployment
automation, network, server, storage and coding experience who thrives in a
fast paced startup environment? If so, we want to talk with you today.
Z2Live is looking for a self-motivated detail-oriented candidate with a
wealth of Ruby coding experience and a strong desire for automation along
with a go-getter attitude to eliminate potential downtime and jump in for
ad-hoc issue resolution.
Responsibilites:
• Operate our global 24x7 multi-game infrastructure
• Perform planned maintenance work and feature deployments
• Resolve live infrastructure issues
• Develop code for automating deployment and operations tasks
• Ensure operational tools will scale with the number of game titles,
player volume and environment complexities
• Anticipate infrastructure challenges and avoid issues through planning
and prioritized execution of tasks
• Leverage agile best practices for quality, on-time software delivery
• Have a blast at the hottest social game company in Seattle
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• 4+ years of hands-on technical operations and coding experience (Ruby,
scripting and optionally Java)
• Experience running LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) systems in agile
quick scale cloud environment
• Participate in on-call rotation and perform off-hour maintenance
activities
• Strong understanding of important aspects of service health including
processor, memory and network utilization
• Strong working knowledge of Ubuntu Linux internals, core system services
including DNS, SMTP, syslog, iptables, building custom OS images and server
virtualization
• Practical experience with open source monitoring and alerting systems
like Nagios and Zabbix and how to program them
• Knowledgeable configuring, maintaining and tuning MySQL and key/value
store (Redis, Cassandra) database servers and running replication
• Experience with systems and configuration management including Chef,
Puppet and CFEngine
• Practical experience using source code control and revision systems
including GIT in team environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Enthusiasm for start-up work
• Desire to be in at the ground floor of a well funded start-up
