Position Overview
As a Sr. Linux Administrator, you will be a part of LeapFrog’s IT team working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. As part of your role you will provide daily support across a wide range of technical issues, be responsible for the operation and maintenance of production systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. Excellent communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to work well in team settings are key factors for the successful candidate.

The Linux Administrator reports to the Manager of Systems Engineering. The qualified candidate must meet or exceed the qualifications outlined below and must be able to perform the tasks to which the job entails.

Duties & Responsibilities

  *   Perform day to day maintenance on Linux/UNIX environments including account creation, application deployments, script creation, performance tuning and backups
  *   Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues when necessary
  *   Proactively monitor servers, storage, applications and services
  *   Install, configure and maintain server hardware and software at multiple sites
  *   Deploy hardware, O/S and application patches/updates utilizing best practices
  *   Be available for on-call rotation and after-hours support
  *   Some travel required

Education & Experience
·         Possess excellent communication and customer service skills
·         Be a team player with the ability to work well with others
·         Possess outstanding troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
·         Be an energetic self-starter who shows personal initiative
·         Possess the ability to multitask
·         Be an independent thinker who’s not afraid to suggest alternate solutions as well make, admit and learn from their mistakes
·         Expertise in Linux system administration, specifically rpm based distributions (Red Hat/CentOS/OL)
·         Possess significant experience deploying and supporting virtualization and/or cloud based technologies
·         Demonstrable experience and knowledge of web servers, application servers and databases
·         Knowledge of mid/large data center environments
·         Expertise implementing and supporting monitoring and notification tools (syslog-ng, cacti, mrtg, nagios for example)
·         Possess significant experience supporting multiple SAN platforms
·         Demonstrable experience and knowledge in fundamental networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP)
·         Possess the ability to write and maintain detailed administrative scripts (bash, perl etc.)
·         Possess significant experience with and understanding of networking equipment and technologies (load balancers, switches, routers, firewalls)
·         Must be able to lift 50 lbs
·         Experience supporting UNIX (Solaris) environments
·         Experience with configuration management and deployment technologies (puppet, chef)
·         Experience supporting e-commerce platforms a plus
·         B.S. Computer Science/Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
·         Must have 8+  years’ experience working in a Linux Administration role, Systems Administration role or similar
