Description:
The System Optimization and Technology Center group within SSG is looking for a Performance Engineer to optimize virtualized server platforms and reporting into the Server Virtualization Enabling team lead by Tom Adelmeyer.  The candidate will be responsible for path finding new server technologies in the data center, influencing next generation VMM software and competitively positioning Intel servers. To perform these tasks, the candidate will research emerging data center use models and develop representative workloads for analysis.  Emerging use models that use virtualization as the underlying technology include: fault tolerant computing, dynamic resource balancing among multiple servers, power management and security.  Candidate is expected to develop white papers/presentations with the analysis and drive technical engagements with teams internal to Intel and with external partners.  In this role the ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to drive action across Intel groups and within the industry
- Good critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take abstract concepts and develop concrete action plan to influence Intel and VMM vendors.


Qualifications:
Candidate should possess a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 3+ years of experience; or a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years experience.
Additional qualifications include:
- 2-3 years experience with server platform hardware and a general understanding of computer architectures required
- 1-2 yrs experience with Linux* kernel internals development and/or Windows* OS problem solving
- 2 yrs knowledge of performance collection tools (VTune, EMON, etc.).
- Any HPC or Data Center experience a plus
