Job Description:

Plans, provides resources for and directs activities in engineering function to meet schedules, standards, and cost. Cultivates and reinforces appropriate group values, norms and behaviors. Identifies and analyzes problems, plans, tasks, and solutions. Provides guidance on employee development, performance, and productivity issues. Plans and schedules daily tasks'' uses judgment on a variety of problems requiring deviation from standard practices. Inadequacies and erroneous decisions would cause moderate inconvenience and expense.

This position is responsible for development of security and manageability driver and middleware components, as well as integration of third party IP in support of UMG platforms for handheld and smartphone Atom-based SoCs. This is part of the UMG, Ultra Mobile Software Engineering (UMSE) group, which creates core firmware, drivers and enabling/differentiating middleware for all UMG platforms, in support of UMG products and ecosystem development. Currently the target platforms are all Linux-variants (Moblin, MeeGo, Android), though additional OS landing zones are likely in the future.

The right person for this job will be a highly dynamic technical manager with excellent leadership, people development and project management skills. They will have solid experience managing teams in a Linux software development environment and be familiar with standard development methodologies. They will possess very strong communication skills and be capable of working directly with external customers on engineer-to-engineer engagements, as well as communicating complex architectures, strategies and tactics to a broad internal audience.

Critical skills and experience include:

Must have a BS + 6 yrs exp; MS + 4 years exp; or PhD + 2 years exp in CS or related field.
3+ year team management experience;
Understand technical details, willing to hands on. Able to communicate to the upper level managers for the technical issues.
Strong project execution to align the priorities, focus on the flawless execution to deliver according to the commitment.
Demonstrated managing Linux-based development projects and development teams
Demonstrated success in delivering complex software projects in a fast paced and dynamic environment
Familiarity with Security architectures, security and manageability industry standards and standards bodies, methods for implementing secure software, and processes/standards such as DFS and SDL highly desirable
Solid understanding of SW Product Engineering PLC and Engineering role and deliverables
Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills and ability to manage stakeholders and cross-group relationships both internal and external to Intel.

Must have skills needed:

Security Development experience with Linux projects.
Technical hands on background with Linux kernel & device drivers.
Project Management experience.
People Manager experience.

Nice to have skills:

Software development experience.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
