Linux Kernel Engineer- #575327 (1 Opening)  Hillsboro, OR.

Create the future Intel's new Embedded OS! The Open Source Technology Center (OTC) within the Intel Software and Services Group (SSG) is creating software for the next generation of Intel embedded devices. This opening is for a senior Linux kernel developer. OTC is looking for Linux software developers and technical leads that love to write code and develop cutting-edge embedded operating systems and applications. To be successful, you must have positive interaction with the Linux community to ensure code is developed in an acceptable manner and adopted in upstream community projects as appropriate. In this role you must demonstrate a high level of initiative, ability to assume ownership of major areas, and establish correct technical direction. You must demonstrate flexibility to contribute to multiple areas in a nimble organization. In this role the ideal candidate must be good at problem solving, motivated and have the ability to research open-ended technical challenges.

Job Description:

Software Engineers conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software. Determines computer user needs'' advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements'' designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgment and formal software process.

Qualifications:

BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 9 years experience or an MS degree with 6 years of experience.
Additional qualifications include:
A minimum background of 4 years recent experience in a combination the following areas:
-Linux system design and/or development, Linux kernel development as demonstrated by accepted submissions to the Linux kernel
-Deep knowledge and hands on code development for least one of the following areas of interest: Intel Architecture (Core, Pentium, Atom or other x86) kernel code, device drivers, embedded system bring-up and debug
- Strong C programming experience and expertise a must.
