Location:United States, California, Santa Clara, near the Santa Clara
convention center

Dates:Through the end of March 2009, possible longer term

A small Bay Area company with great people needs someone for a temporary
SysAdmin/Windows HelpDesk position. There is the potential for long term
work with this growing company if the fit is good. Don't sweat minor typos
and grammatical errors in your materials. Send a resume and/or any other

The responsibilities of this job cannot be met through telecommuting. The
office is located in the US state of California, and qualified applicants
must be local to the area. This position is not available to international
applicants and there is no compensation or allowance for relocation.
Duties:

   * Linux Administration (60%)
   * Mysql database administration (20%)
   * Firewall/network (5%)
   * Windows HelpDesk (5%)
   * Other - machine installs, etc (10%)


Skills:

   * Good interpersonal communication
   * Linux Administration
   * Mysql administration
   * Ability to sit on the phone with Dell support,
         going through scripts fruitlessly (while getting other work done)


Other Requirements/Notes:

   * Be able to do some on-call off-hours monitoring
   * Be able to rack servers and do related lifting and installation work
   * Be comfortable working in a fast paced small organization
   * Positive attitude and desire to learn more important than experience
   * Hours are somewhat flexible

   * Experience with OpenBSD
   * Experience with RedHat cluster tools
   * Experience with OpenSolaris
   * Experience with Linux HA/DRBD
   * Experience with Xen virtualization

   * Experience with lustre

   * Long, boring cover emails
