Job Description:
System Support Engineer 

This position is in support of the hospitality side of a large voice, video, and data provider in Las Vegas. The daily position duties are primarily focused on monitoring and overseeing the operation of servers, routers, and switches to maintain 100% up time. 

Other Responsibilities Include:

	Conducting research and developing projects for the evaluation and recommendation of new products and technologies related to the hotel data networks the company is supporting.

	Analyzing hardware and software needs, recommending changes, performing upgrades, providing technical support to field representatives, data technicians, and other internal employees.

	Establishing and maintaining disaster recovery procedures. 

	Assisting the Engineering Manager in evaluating departmental performance by preparing reports on systems operations.

Ideal Technical Knowledge and Skills:

	Linux server operation and maintenance (Similar to RedHat)
	LAMP knowledge and experience
	Networking experience: Cisco routers and switches, routing protocols and other related telecomm peripherals.
	Desired Education: BS – Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Company / Group Information:

This company group provides High Speed Data services to hotel / casinos throughout the U.S (approximately 95,000 hotel rooms in 6 states). The networks could be wired (Ethernet), wireless, DOCSIS (cable modem), or a combination of these. In addition to data the network is used to transport VOIP and IPTV. The group has 9 team members. They are adding this position due to growth and the need to augment the group on the server side. This group within the company has very high revenue generating potential, so it highly regarded and supported. This group is using and is exposed to quite a bit of cutting edge technologies and are responsible for developing new product offerings for customers.
