*Software Engineer, Linux Kernel Bug Management*
Google is growing! We need world-class software engineers to help us develop
one of the world's largest and most impressive Linux cluster deployments.
You will have a chance to work on the unique challenges involved in building
the system infrastructure that powers our Web search engine, as well as our
many other services.
This position calls for an engineer to work with Google and Linux Kernel
engineers to track and manage defects in the public Linux kernel. The applicant
will need some familiarity with the Linux kernel and its development culture and
processes. The work will involve a large amount of email interaction with
end-users, testers and kernel developers.
Responsibilities:
- Tracking all open bugzilla reports
- Ensuring that all bugzilla reports are made known to the appropriate
- Generating periodic reports for the various Linux kernel subsystem
- Generating overall bug report statistics for the Linux kernel team
- Generating reports of serious regressions so as to guide Linus
Torvalds
- Tracking emailed bug reports from testers, ensuring that they are
captured
- Working with end-users and testers on initial bug triaging.
- Working with the Red Hat and Suse bug tracking systems (and their
owners)
- The applicant will also be called upon to perform engineering work
on Google\\\'s internal products.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent (Ph.D. a plus)
- Software development experience
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux kernel programming
- Experience programming in C
- Experience programming in Python and/or C++ a plus
- Knowledge of disk storage subsystems and device drivers

*Must be willing to relocate.
